Las Vegas offers more live entertainment than almost anywhere, which can make choosing harder rather than easier. This page sets out the main kinds of show night and how to pick seats that suit you. Helios Club is an independent journal: we do not sell or resell tickets and take no bookings.
Resident productions
A residency is a show built to run in one room for many dates. Because the staging is designed for that space, residencies often feel more polished than a touring stop. Rooms range from The Colosseum at Caesars Palace, built in 2003 for Celine Dion and seating about 4,100, to Dolby Live at Park MGM, which holds up to 6,400. Sphere takes the idea further with immersive concerts and films. Our choosing a resident show guide goes deeper.
Magic and comedy
Smaller showrooms suit magic and stand-up, where being close to the performer is part of the point. These nights are often easier to fit around dinner. See comedy and magic nights, and check age guidance if you are bringing children; shows for families can help.
Concerts and theater
Touring acts play the arenas, including T-Mobile Arena and MGM Grand Garden Arena, while Allegiant Stadium takes the biggest tours. For Broadway tours, ballet and orchestral music, look to The Smith Center downtown. Read arena concert tips before a big-room night.
Big games
Sport is a show in its own right here: Raiders football at Allegiant Stadium, Golden Knights hockey at T-Mobile Arena and Aviators baseball at Las Vegas Ballpark. See game day in Las Vegas.
How to pick seats
- Decide what matters most: closeness, a full view of the staging, or a lower spend.
- Check where the stage, ring or field sits for your specific event; layouts change.
- Higher, central seats often beat closer seats at a sharp side angle.
- Read seat maps explained before choosing.
Buying tickets
Buy from the venue's own box office or the official outlet it names, and be wary of lookalike listings. Our buying show tickets safely guide explains what to watch for.
